ACAV commends Andrews Government’s funding support for kindergarten in 2021

Below is a transcript of the ACA Media Release which was circulated on Tuesday 10th November 2020.

The Australian Childcare Alliance Victoria (ACAV) commends the Andrews Government on today’s announcement of funding that offers subsidies to early learning services, saving families around $2000 for every child participating in a funded kindergarten program in a long day care setting.

“Whilst we applaud the vision of the Victorian Government for its recognition of the many benefits of kindergarten in all early learning settings, we are waiting on further details about how this funding will be rolled out and the extent of its positive impact on individual families.” ACAV President Sarah Tullberg said.

“We hope that the $2000 funding per child accessing a funded three or four year old kindergarten program in long day care will significantly support parents, particularly women, as they recover from the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic and return to the workforce."

“ACA Victoria has no doubt that this additional funding will be well received by all parents of kindergarten children.” said Ms Tullberg.

“ACAV therefore welcomes this initiative, which supports family access to kindergarten in 2021, saving parents thousands of dollars and helping more women back into work.”

“We look forward to working with the Victorian Government to support the delivery of this new funding and the many benefits it will bring for Victorian families.” Ms Tullberg concluded.
