Latest Victorian Government Innovation Grants aim to improve retention of ECTs

ACA Victoria is heartened that the Victorian Department of Education & Training (DET) has listened to our concerns about the workforce issues affecting our sector, which include the recruitment and retention of adequately qualified Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs).

The Department has recently produced a range of supports designed to help service providers improve the retention of ECTs in the first five years of their careers.

This includes the new Innovation Grants ranging from $5,000 up to $30,000 of funding support for approved early childhood education and care services operating in Victoria that deliver a Victorian funded kindergarten program.

Grants will be awarded to initiatives that:

  • improve ECT retention in the workforce (in the first five years of their careers)
  • increase the capacity of the early childhood sector to respond to workforce retention issues
  • increase sector engagement and partnerships in the development of workforce solutions

You can read more about eligibility and how to apply for these grants on the website here.

(PLEASE NOTE: The funding is not available to those services not receiving kindergarten funding.)

The deadline for applications is 2:00pm 21 June 2021
