Next steps in Victoria's Kindergarten Workforce Strategy

The Victorian Government's roll-out of funded Three-Year-Old Kindergarten will require the attraction and retention of a qualified kindergarten workforce across individual service providers.

Following early learning sector stakeholder feedback about the current challenges and opportunities across the sector in this space, the Victorian Government has produced a new policy paper which aims to address the workforce needs of our sector.

The following themes cut across and underpin all actions in the strategy:

  1. Expanding high-quality pathways to build educator supply
  2. Supporting leadership to improve workforce wellbeing
  3. Taking collective responsibility for shifting perceptions about early childhood education and care
  4. Supporting upskilling to grow teacher supply
  5. Continuing to focus on training quality, including through placements and mentoring
  6. Strengthening sector partnerships to improve place-based workforce strategies and learn from best practice and innovation
