10 things you need to know about the Jobs for Families Package

  1. The new system is to be implemented on 2 July 2018
  2.  Key elements are Child Care Subsidy (CCS) & Child Care Safety Net (CCSN)
  3. The CCS is a single means tested payment that replaces both CCR and  CCB.  Paid directly to service providers and passed onto families
  4. 3 factors determine the level of CCS eligibility: Combined family income & activity levels of both parents & hourly fee caps 
  5. No annual subsidy cap for families earning less than $185,710
  6. A new I.T system to support implementation
  7. Funded care in the family home will continue. Government is reviewing the Nanny pilot program & the In-home care program
  8. Government will develop a range of tools to support implementation, though services will be required to bear the cost of any system of process changes required
  9. ACA will be developing tools to support members, including a viability forecasting tool - keep an eye out for these
  10. Members should start to engage on the transition to the new child care system, using Government updates & Fact Sheets and Australian Childcare Alliance updates which come to your inbox.
