Advocacy
With the support of the Australian Childcare Alliance national body, ACA Victoria actively engages with State and Federal governments on issues of significance to the sector, particularly issues that affect privately owned services.
Previous areas of focus include :
• Face-to-face lobbying of Ministers in Canberra about supported bargaining negotiations to support a Federal Government funded wage rise for the sector
• A detailed response and recommendations to the Productivity Commission’s Initial and Interim Reports
• Involvement in the Best Start, Best Life Technical Advisory Group, providing advice to the Government on all aspects of the reform to attract and retain our kindergarten workforce
• Successfully lobbying the Tasmanian Government to maintain the school starting age, ensuring the best outcomes for children and the viability of the sector
• Involvement in working groups implementing, monitoring and recommending amendments to the Child Care Subsidy
• Lobbying to introduce amendments to the National Quality Framework (NQF) to reduce red tape and administrative burden from operators during implementation of the NQF
We regularly seek member feedback on these issues by way of surveys and face to face discussions.
