Open the Door to Cultural Safety in Early Learning
Join Shanika Dantanarayana, Larissa Hayes, and other passionate early childhood professionals for an inspiring Open Door Networking event at Monash Vale Early Learning Centre. This is a unique opportunity to explore how Monash Vale is embedding Aboriginal perspectives and ensuring cultural safety through genuine community connections and inclusive practices.
Their approach is deeply rooted in collaboration, respect, and continuous learning, creating an environment where every child’s cultural identity is recognised and celebrated.
“At Monash Vale, we see cultural safety as more than a concept—it is embedded in everything we do. Our commitment to honouring Boonwurrung culture extends beyond curriculum, shaping the relationships we build with children, families, and the broader community.”
During the Open Door, you will get to explore practical ways to engage with local First Nations communities, including working with Koorie Education Support Officers (KESO) and accessing relevant resources to enhance cultural inclusion. Additionally, the session will unpack the true meaning of cultural safety, offering insights into how early childhood services can create environments that honour and embrace all cultures.
The evening includes a tour of the centre, a panel discussion, and dedicated time for questions, along with a selection of delicious refreshments, thanks to Kids Gourmet Food.
