• What a strategic plan is and why you should have one, including how it guides decision making and resource allocation, drives accountability against common goals, increases overall business value, brings your employees along on the journey, and supports succession planning.
• What to include in a strategic plan, covering your vision statement, values, SMART goals and objectives, performance metrics (KPIs), stakeholder alignment, and why the plan should look out three to five years and be accessible to everyone in your organisation.
• Real examples of vision statements, values and goals used across the sector, such as achieving 80% occupancy within 12 months, increasing your NQF rating, lifting profitability by 5%, improving staff retention, or opening a new centre in the next one to two years.
• Practical templates you can use straight away, including a strategy on a page, a goal and action plan template, and an example childcare centre balanced scorecard with metrics and targets for occupancy, EBIT to revenue, rent to revenue, salaries and wages to revenue, NQS and NQF ratings, workplace incidents, family feedback, community engagement, turnover, employee satisfaction and training participation.
• How a reporting platform can track your childcare KPIs month to month, including occupancy, revenue per place, rent per child, payroll and employee costs to revenue, EBIT to revenue, EBITDA, cash on hand, and revenue and EBIT growth, so you can quickly see what is on track and what is off track.
