Meet Local Candidates
A face-to-face conversation is one of the most effective things you can do. Request a meeting with candidates in your electorate and ask them directly to commit to our five priorities.
Share Local Data and Experiences
Politicians respond to evidence. Share real data from your service to put a local face on the statewide issues we’re raising.
Host Service Visits
Invite a candidate or sitting MP to visit your service during operating hours. Showing politicians the reality of early childhood education is far more powerful than any policy briefing document.
Use Your Networks
Your families, staff, and local community members are powerful advocates. Encouraging conversations about early learning priorities can help build broader support during the election campaign.

Member Instructions: How to Engage Step by Step
Not sure where to start? Follow these five steps to make the most impact before and during the 2026 Victorian election campaign. The whole process takes as little as 20 minutes.
Step 1: Find your local MP or candidate
Head to the Australian Electoral Commission website and search by your postcode, electorate name, or suburb. Click on your electorate from the results.
Once you’re on your electorate page, scroll down to Current Member Details. You’ll see your local MP’s name and a link to more information about them.
Click on their highlighted name in the results, you’ll find their full contact details including office address, phone number, and email.
Step 2: Download and personalise a letter template
Open the Word documents and replace all [bracketed fields] with your own service details.
Step 3: Send your letter and follow up
Send your letter by email and, if possible, by post. Then follow up.
- Email to the MP’s electorate office (found via the look-up tool above)
- CC vic@childcarealliance.org.au so ACA Victoria can track engagement across the state
- Follow up by phone within one week to confirm receipt and request a meeting
Step 4: Report back to ACA Victoria
After any contact with a candidate or MP, let us know what happened. Your engagement helps us build a picture of where commitments are being made, and where we need to push harder.
