Paul Mondo Addresses ACCC Child Care Inquiry Update
The interim report into Early Childhood Education and Care prices has now been released by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. This report provides insights to the affordability and the structure of the ECEC market, along with how families use care. This report examines:
- Department data
- Preliminary results from the ACCC’s survey of parents and guardians
- Information providers submitted directly to the inquiry
The ACCC continues to analyse the sector as Child Care Subsidy increases are now in effect. Paul Mondo discusses the results and what the data showed on Channel 7 News, stating:
“Over the last 5 years fees have increased by about 4% and that’s consistent across all service types and provider types in our sector, and what we know is the cost of delivering the service has increased immeasurable in that time. What we’re seeing and what the data shows is consistent across the sector”.
ACA National and state bodies continue to advocate for the early learning sector.
